SRP site survey letters, 1949-1951
Subjects include data required for the comparison and evaluation of the Red River and Savannah River sites; a visit to the future SRP site by members of the Industrial Committee on Reactor Location Problems; considerations involved in site selection and plant design; flux monitoring systems at Hanford and SRP; the advisability of locating a commercial chemical reprocessing facility near the SRP site; possible results of accidents inside the plant and their off-site effects; and the problem of housing at the Savannah River site. Also included are a copy of a report by George E. Siple in cooperation with the AEC called "Geology and Ground Water of the Savannah River Plant and Vicinity South Carolina; a copy of the (1949) Atomic projects Survey Committee Report; a 1951 site Summary Report for SRP; and a 1950 site survey report from the Explosives Department to the Executive Committee, together with an "advice of action" notification from the Executive Committee recommending approval of the Savannah River site.

Subjects addressed include permissible levels of radiation exposure; the development of a forest management program in conjunction with the United States Forest Service for the SRP site; flood control at the site; fire hazard in the woods on the SRP site; and control of the deer population on the SRP site. Also included is a 1967 report from the Forest Service on the land management program at Savannah River; and a 1952 Flood Control Report prepared by the district office of the Army Corps of Engineers.
Plant security policy letters, 1964-1968, 1982-1983.
Subjects addressed include public access to certain roads on the SRP site; the safety record at SRP; licensing requirements for production reactors; the possible elimination of the airspace reservation over SRP; security information for the Polly Drummond II Building; security considerations at the SRP site; and a push by Du Pont for improvements to existing security arrangements in the form of military personnel with state-of-the-art hardware. Also included are drafts and copies of the easement agreement which covers conditions of maintenance and public access to certain roads on the SRP site; and a report on traffic conditions in the area and projected personnel needs for handling any public access to roads on the SRP site.
SRP radiation reports and miscellaneous letters, 1956-1960
Subjects include reporting to employees of individual levels of radiation exposure; AEC standards for protection against radiation and changes to same; possible contamination of timber and crops on land adjoining the SRP site; radiation exposure advice to be given to AEC and contractor employees (including a draft of a paper on the subject); information on training programs relating to radiation exposure; and the death of an employee at Los Alamos in 1958 due to excessive radiation exposure. Enclosed are a staff report of the Federal Radiation Council, "Background Material for the Development of Radiation Protection Standards" (1960); a draft of a chapter called "Radiation Exposure Reports" from an AEC General Administration Manual, Health and Safety section; and a report for the AEC for the year 1959 called "The Effect of the Savannah River Plant on Environmental Radioactivity".

Subjects include Federal Radiation Council guidelines for radiation exposure limits; ecological research in the SRP area; monitoring of radiation dosages; arrangements for medical treatment for contaminated persons; collection of health data on SRP employees; a study of health and occupational exposure of Hanford employees undertaken at the University of Pittsburgh; use of respirators and protective clothing; regulations for reporting to the AEC on levels of exposure to radiation; training for supervisory and radiation-monitoring personnel; and the nomination of Henry C. Honeck for the 1974 Ernest Orlando Lawrence award. Enclosed is a 1964 appraisal report on radiation protection programs at SRP, undertaken for the AEC.

Subjects include state regulation of radiation sources and radioactive materials; changes to AEC standards for radiation exposure (including an AEC statement of considerations in regard to rule making on protection standards); standards for release of radioactive waste; Du Pont compliance with AEC standards on radiation exposure and protection against radiation; the registration of radiation sources (particularly as legislated by the South Dakota State Department of Health); the South Dakota Radiation Act of 1957; proposed criteria for guidance of states and the AEC in the discontinuance of AEC regulatory authority over "byproduct, source, and special nuclear materials"; exchange of information about practices in radiation monitoring and protection; company liability for proper training and information of employees exposed to radioactive materials; the Health Physics program at SRP; procedural controls for work in radiation and changes to same; equipment and procedures for monitoring of individual exposure to radiation, and exchange of information with Oak Ridge in regard to same; and SRP participation in a dosimeter testing pilot study conducted by the University of Michigan. Subjects include changes in preliminary design for the heavy water plant and the GS process at Savannah River; the selection of the site for the heavy water components test reactor; the forestry program at SRP; biological studies at the site; design data reports security and distribution; informational visits by utility company representatives to the SRP site; assessment of controls for safety of non reactor nuclear facilities; administrative control of the reactors; administrative control procedures and revision of administrative control documents; and safety procedures and the United States Department of Energy's approval for same at SRP. Monthly reports, explosives department, relating to AED, 1956-1959
These consist of brief general statements about plant output as compared to maximum or projected output, dates upon which classified material relating to performance for the month was reported to the Executive committee, and employment statistics for the AED (the number of wage employees, number of salaried employees, and increase or decrease in totals of each as compared to the previous month). Some contain information about industrial relations (current NLRB cases, for example) or changes in operation (such as mechanical improvements).

These were produced with restricted data deleted. These are arranged by section, and contain statements about production rate, equipment construction and testing (including failures), equipment and operation status, and some specifications.
Design data report, technical division, SRP, 1957
Provides brief general discussion of the design for a pressurized exponential facility, "to be used to provide fundamental nuclear data for high temperature, high pressure, heavy water natural uranium systems". This design data report was to be used in the generation of cost estimates, and so is fairly exact about design specifications and materials.
Spevack patent case, 1957-1965
Contains evidence and affidavits for both sides of the case, in which Jerome S. Spevack (at one time a consultant for Du Pont) charged that Du Pont under the direction of the AEC unlawfully made use at the Dana plant of a chemical exchange process for which he had previously obtained a patent. The bulk of the material consists of copies of the patent documentation, Spevack's charges, and the evidence for Du Pont's rebuttal, which concentrated on attacking the validity of Spevack's patent. Included are explanations of the process (the "GS process") under dispute and its development from previous processes.
