Scope and Contents
Subjects include data required for the comparison and evaluation of the Red River and Savannah River sites; a visit to the future SRP site by members of the Industrial Committee on Reactor Location Problems; considerations involved in site selection and plant design; flux monitoring systems at Hanford and SRP; the advisability of locating a commercial chemical reprocessing facility near the SRP site; possible results of accidents inside the plant and their off-site effects; and the problem of housing at the Savannah River site. Also included are a copy of a report by George E. Siple in cooperation with the AEC called "Geology and Ground Water of the Savannah River Plant and Vicinity South Carolina; a copy of the (1949) Atomic projects Survey Committee Report; a 1951 site Summary Report for SRP; and a 1950 site survey report from the Explosives Department to the Executive Committee, together with an "advice of action" notification from the Executive Committee recommending approval of the Savannah River site.
