Scope and Contents
Subjects include state regulation of radiation sources and radioactive materials; changes to AEC standards for radiation exposure (including an AEC statement of considerations in regard to rule making on protection standards); standards for release of radioactive waste; Du Pont compliance with AEC standards on radiation exposure and protection against radiation; the registration of radiation sources (particularly as legislated by the South Dakota State Department of Health); the South Dakota Radiation Act of 1957; proposed criteria for guidance of states and the AEC in the discontinuance of AEC regulatory authority over "byproduct, source, and special nuclear materials"; exchange of information about practices in radiation monitoring and protection; company liability for proper training and information of employees exposed to radioactive materials; the Health Physics program at SRP; procedural controls for work in radiation and changes to same; equipment and procedures for monitoring of individual exposure to radiation, and exchange of information with Oak Ridge in regard to same; and SRP participation in a dosimeter testing pilot study conducted by the University of Michigan. Also included are a brief history and information regarding SRP prepared for the Promotion Editor of the Augusta Chronicle; and a report by A.A. Johnson prepared for presentation at SRP, called "Potential of a D20 Power Reactor Program".
