E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company is a chemical company more commonly referred to as the DuPont company. This item is an advertising card for E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. Gunpowder manufactured on the Brandywine in Wilmington, Delaware and sold through dealers in Philadelphia, New York City and Boston.

The DuPont Company constructed a dye works at Deepwater Point, New Jersey (also called just Deepwater, New Jersey) during World War I to enter the market for dyes left vacant by Germany's absence. This collection consists of fifteen panomaric photographs of views of the Deepwater Point, New Jersey dye works of the DuPont Company, including ground before building started, building exteriors, and a group portrait of employees of the Jackson Laboratory.

The DuPont Company's Executive Committee established the Experimental Station, a research facility located on the banks of the Brandywine Creek across from DuPont's first black powder works. The panoramic photograph provides an overview of the DuPont Company Experimental Station and Country Club, outside of Wilmington, Delaware. It shows temporary structures and construction for expansion of the Experimental Station.

The DuPont Company purchased a site near City Point, Virginia on the James River in 1912 in order to build a dynamite plant located closer to the southern market. The panoramic photographs show exteriors of the plant, views of the workers' housing, the town (including the African American section), and a photograph of the Hopewell China Corporation, a post-war reuse of one of the facilities.

In 1902, DuPont took control of Laflin & Rand, including the Haskell Works. Infallible and Ballistite powders were manufactured there. His papers include newspaper clippings, correspondence, a long memorandum, and a humorous poem by Habicht relating to the 1947-1948 strike at the Belle plant.

Eugene du Pont Jr. (1873-1954) was a director of the E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company from 1917 until 1954, and a great grandson of company founder, Éleuthère Irénée du Pont (1771-1834). The collection contains the personal papers of Eugene du Pont, Jr., and the records of the Kinloch Gun Club, a private shooting club which he founded. It also contains a separate collection of correspondence between his brother Alfred I. du Pont, vice president and general manager of the DuPont Company, with his assistant Frank L. Connable, which is an important source for the history of the company in the early 1900s.

The Belin plant in Moosic, Pennsylvania was built by the DuPont Company in 1908 for the production of black powder, which it was doing by 1912. This collection consists of photographs of the aftermath of an explosion that occurred there on August 1, 1930.

George Parshall (1929-2019) was an organometallic chemist who made notable contributions to homogeneous catalysis. He worked as a senior scientist at E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Company for thirty-eight years. This small collection mainly consists of a three-volume autobiography that covers Parshall's life, from growing up during the Great Depression, World War II, education, marriage and family, and career with the DuPont Company.

George Y. Swickard (1906-1958) was a medical doctor involved in industrial medicine who worked with E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company. During World War II, Swickard worked as a medical supervisor with the DuPont Company at various locations, including atomic research projects at Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and at Hanford, Washington. This collection consists of certificates, newsletters, pamphlets, and souvenir programs amassed by Swickard, mostly in the course of his work for DuPont.

Gilbert P. Church (1910-1993) was a civil engineer and the field project manager for E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company at the Hanford Site during the Manhattan Project. His papers relate to the construction by DuPont for the United States government of the Hanford Engineer Works plutonium plant near Pasco, Washington.

Guy B. Taylor (1888-1972) worked at the DuPont Company, where he specialized in the oxidation of ammonia, the method of contact catalysis, and the synthesis of acetylene. His fragmentary papers document his career as a research chemist and include an autobiographical notebook that chronicles his life from childhood to retirement, Princeton dissertation on the dissociation of mercuric oxide, technical papers, patents, and papers from employment at DuPont's Experimental Station.

Harry J. Haon II (1901-1989) and his son Harry J. Haon III (1934-2013) were chemists and lifetime employees of E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company, and both came to specialize in sales and marketing. The Harry J. Haon family papers are a collection of correspondence, meeting notes/minutes, drawings/maps, journal articles, DuPont publications, papers expressing once classified information about DuPont products, as well as teaching materials for employees who were novice marketing managers, sales personnel and employees in leadership positions. The collection is composed of two series consisting of the papers of Harry J. Haon, II and Harry J. Haon, III. The careers in DuPont of both Haons are well documented.

Henry du Pont (1812-1889) was an American military officer and son of Eleuthère Irénée du Pont (1771-1834), founder of E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co., and Sophie Madeleine Dalmas du Pont (1775-1828). The collection consists of photocopied letters from Henry du Pont (1812-1889) and typescript of Pierre Samuel du Pont de Nemours (1739-1817) autobiography he wrote in 1792. The letters are from sisters Eleuthera du Pont Smith (1806-1876) and Sophie Madeleine du Pont (1810-1888), as well as William Tecumseh Sherman (1820-1891) and M. Saito of the Japanese Navy.

H.E. Schroeder (1915-2009) was a research chemist who spent most of his career with E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company. His papers consist of documents and memorabilia covering his family and professional life.

Homes on Breck's Lane were owned by William Winder "Chick” Laird Jr. (1910-1989), and served as workers' housing. Laird was the director of E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Company. The record is a single sheet listing the houses on Breck's Lane near Wilmington, Delaware, that were originally workers' housing attached to the Brandywine Works of E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company.
