The airline was the first to offer service from the west to Washington D.C., coach class service, in-flight television, and jet-powered commercial aircraft. This collection is of material that would have been presented to a passenger on a flight around 1957, apparently from Buffalo, New York, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and then back again.

The Centennial International Exhibition of 1876 was the first official World's Fair to be held in the United States, and was held in Philadelphia to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Joseph Shields Wilson (1835-1903), founder of the Wilmington Steamboat Company, attended and this collection includes his pass and a photograph.

The collection consists of forty-five identical gummed stickers. The stickers feature an image of an approaching Pennsylvania Railroad locomotive.

It serves to bring together manufacturers and suppliers with people who work in the chemical process industry. This collection consists of gummed stickers with colorful images or designs advertising various functions and companies related to the chemical industry.

The C.W. Parker Amusement Company produced various amusement devices, such as shooting galleries and ferris wheels, but was best known for its carousels named "Carry-Us-Alls." When the company was founded in 1894 by C.W. Parker (1864-1932) in Abilene, Kansas, it was the only carousel manufacturer not on the east coast. This small collection of records documents the professional life of C.W. Parker, the "Amusement King" and his company. The collection comprised of textual material, including financial records, correspondence with other manufacturing vendors, and publications regarding the company's progress.

Documents related to the Delaware State Trapshooting Championship, held at various locations throughout state, mainly Wilmington Trapshooting Association in Newark, Delaware and Silver Lake Sportsman's Association in Magnolia, Delaware. Also included are programs from the Grand American Trapshooting Tournament.

Donald Hoke (1951-) and Carolyn Hoke (1951-) are co-owners of Vintage Steam Products, LLC, which manufactures and sells restoration materials for Stanley steam vehicles in Texas. Don Hoke created the Virtual Steam Car Museum, Inc. in 2011. Sparked by eight years at the Milwaukee Public Museum curating the Dietz Collection, he started collecting typewriter ephemera privately and discovered eBay in 1995. A typewriter is a mechanical or electromechanical machine for producing written characters using a key to strike an inked ribbon to transfer ink or carbon onto paper. This collection of typewriter advertising and ephemera offers great insight into the technological development of the typewriter through its beginnings in the 1870s until its eventual dissolution in the 1990s. The plethora of advertising ephemera helps frame the typewriter historically and sociologically, offering insight into the careers of typists and the migration of the typewriter from the office into the home. Trends in advertising and industrial design through the twentieth century are also represented in this collection and will offer ample evidence of these evolutions to researchers.

E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company is a chemical company more commonly referred to as the DuPont company. The company was established in 1802 by Pierre Samuel du Pont de Nemours and his son Eleuthère Irénée du Pont the company began with the production of gunpowder. This item consists of two printed pieces: a Happy New Year 1993 greeting from Coley (P. Coleman) and Jake (James Coleman) du Pont and a reproduction of an Eagle gun powder label circa 1804.

E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company is a chemical company more commonly referred to as the DuPont company. This small collections consists of five DuPont Company promotional items or giveaways, primarily related to Freon products.

Edith Marion DeBlois (1920-2000) was a native Canadian with an interest in foreign travel and a season pass to the Expo 67. Expo 67 was an international exposition that took place in in Montréal, Québec from April 27 to October 29, 1967 to celebrate Canada's centennial. The theme was "Man and his World." These materials were collected by DeBlois while attending Expo 67. This small collection includes many of the official guides and maps issued by the fair, as well as specialized pamphlets dealing with particular themes or exhibits. DeBlois also compiled a series of scrapbooks documenting her attendance at various exhibits and performances.

The items in this series were collected by Carter Litchfield. The series consists of a wide range of paper ephemera arranged alphabetically including ration stamps, advertisements, articles, letterheads, pamphlets, postcards and prints, stamps, stock certificates, and trade cards.

Genevieve Pittner (1917-2007) of Monroe, Michigan, collected roller skating rink stickers between 1941 and 1942, amassing a large collection by exchanging stickers by mail with other collectors. This collection consists primarily of roller skating rink stickers during the World War II era. A large album contains most of the stickers in the collection; stickers are attached to album pages and arranged alphabetically by state.

Helen Baker Cushman (1922-) was the founder and manager of H.M. Baker Associates, consultants in business archives and records from 1958 to 1993, headquartered in Westfield, New Jersey. In the course of conducting her business, Cushman collected a wide variety of business publications, trade cards, ephemera, and other memorabilia with special emphasis on world expositions. She also assembled her own general picture archive for use in her business.

A needlebook is a small pocket-sized case used for keeping sewing needles in; it is made of fabric or paper and folded to look like a book. The trend of making needlebooks began in the 1800s and rose in popularity through the 1950s. The needlebook would store all the various sizes and types of needles needed for a project. This small collection consists of six packages containing sewing needles, with illustrated covers.

The Imperial Tobacco Company of Great Britain and Ireland is a multinational manufacturer of tobacco products, including multiple cigarette and cigar brands. This set of fifty cigarette cards illustrates "engineering wonders" from around the world. Each card has a color lithograph illustration on one side and a description on the other side.

This handbill for the Jackson Park Garage on Stony Island Avenue in Chicago advertises its mechanical services and lists monthly specials for Ford 4, Chevrolet 6, and Pontiac 6 automobiles. The NRA (National Recovery Administration) eagle symbol is in the right corner. The National Recovery Administration was a U.S. government agency established during the Great Depression by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to stimulate business recovery through fair-practice codes. Companies that subscribed to the NRA codes were allowed to display a Blue Eagle emblem, as a symbol of cooperation with the NRA.

The John Horn Printing Company was a printing firm that specialized in printing labels and ribbons. This sample album contains 131 embossed die-cut labels pasted on thirty-two pages for a variety of products.

John Margolies (1940-2016) was an American photographer and architecture critic with a fondness for novelty architecture. This is his personal collection of travel ephemera that he collected from across North America. These materials primarily cover the United States’ most popular tourist spots with an emphasis on the Northeast region of the United States.

This is his personal collection of postcards and photographs from across North America. These materials primarily cover the United States’ most popular tourist spots along with various businesses. There is heavy coverage of the Northeast region of the United States, where Margolies lived most of his life. Postcards are primarily from the first half of the twentieth century, and photographs primarily span circa 1890-1920s. Postcards cover a wide range of subjects from famous attractions to local businesses, and photographs are almost entirely local businesses, many being interior views of family owned businesses with their owners. Few objects are contained within the collection, including signs from local businesses and a scrapbook from the honeymoon of an unidentified couple. A small amount of transparencies and negatives conclude the collection, which were used for the planning of some of Margolies books. It is important to note that this collection does not contain John Margolies original photography, except for the few postcards that advertise his exhibits.

In 1875, Philadelphia merchant, John Wanamaker, bought a freight railroad depot at 13th and Market Streets and made it Philadelphia’s first department store. In 1909, Wanamaker bought a huge pipe organ and installed it in Grand Court of the new building. Octave Denis Victor Guillonnet (1872-1967) was a French painter and medallic artist. This collection is a folded momento with of a reproduction of "Adoration of the Magi" triptych painted by O. D. V. Guillonnet which was exhibited in the Organ Loft, Grand Court of the John Wanamaker store, Philadelphia.

Trading stamps were small paper coupons, given to customers by merchants, that had a minimal cash value. Customers could save these coupons and exchange them with the trading stamp company for premiums. The use of these coupons grew with the proliferation of chain gas stations and supermarkets in the early 20th century. Two perforated sheets of "merchant's coupons" (possibly trading stamps) are included, one with fifteen stamps and the other with ten. The coupons in this collection have no markings to determine the merchant or trading stamp company of origin.

Historically, a stock certificate is a paper record of ownership in a company. Certain information is included on a stock certificate: number of share, identification number, a corporate seal, and signatures. This collection consists of predominantly unissued stock certificates for American railroad companies. There are also four certificates of tax free municipal bonds of the City of Philadelphia.

Series IV. Miscellany is comprised of five subseries.

Subseries A. Trade Association Literature; These magazines, newspapers, pamphlets, reports, articles, and addresses pertain to alcoholism, bootlegging, and economics.

Subseries B. Seagram War Effort; This small subseries documents Seagram's poster and advertising campaigns in support of the war effort and the conversion of their distilleries to war production during World War II.

Subseries C. J. E. Frowde Seagram Family; This small subseries contains clippings, articles, histories and other materials documenting J.E. Frowde Seagram, Joseph Emm Seagram and their family.

Subseries D. Vertical File; This subseries contains book reviews and excerpts; publications and clippings about the beverage alcohol industry, The Seagram Company, Ltd. and the Bronfmans; press releases; and miscellany.

Subseries E. Ephemera and Artifacts; The subseries includes plaques, awards, paperweights, printing plates, and a few other artifacts.

This oral history project was initiated to provide supplementary material for Hagley’s 2015 exhibit, Driving Desire, that feature items from the Z. Taylor Vinson Transportation Collection. The three interviewees are; Rick Shnitzler, Fred Simeone, and Yann Saunders, all were personal acquaintances of Z. Taylor Vinson as well as highly involved in either collecting or dealing auto ephemera and/or automobiles.

Patent medicines, also known as proprietary medicines, are non-prescription medicinal remedies that are trademarked and whose ingredients have been granted protection for exclusivity. The term "patent medicine" has become particularly associated with drug compounds manufactured during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. In actuality, the patent medicine recipes were not officially patented. Patent medicine promoters pioneered many advertising and sales techniques; this small collection primarily features trade cards and almanacs.

The Pleasant Valley Wine Company is a historic winery founded near Hammondsport, New York, on Lake Keuka in 1860. This brochure is illustrated with seven color lithographic views of wine production and three black-and-white illustrations of the company's wine bottles.

Roller skating was a popular recreational hobby between 1935 through the 1970s. Starting in the early 1940s, a handful of enterprising roller skating rink owners looking for a way to promote their rinks began giving away colorful stickers printed with the name of the rink and a skating-related graphic. This collection primarily consists of roller staking rink stickers from various states in the United States and Canada. There are a few photographs of skaters and correspondence about sticker trading.

R.R. Wright (1913-2009) was an employee of the RCA Corporation, one of the country's leading manufacturers and vendors of radios, televisions, and consumer electronics products. This is a small collection of ephemera Wright preserved throughout his thirty-three year long career with the company. Included are sample publications, manuals, stationery and small artifacts with RCA logos or advertising.

Sears, Roebuck & Company is a department store chain. This collection consists of seven pieces of ephemera from the company.

World's Fairs, also known as International Expositions, are large-scale exhibitions that highlight technology, agriculture, and other innovations of national or cultural significance. The Century 21 Exposition, also known as the Seattle World's Fair, ran from April 21 to October 21, 1962. This item comprises one pane of four commemorative U.S. postage stamps showing the space needle and monorail.

The Singer Company was once the world's leading producer of sewing machines that achieved peak domestic and foreign influence by the late nineteenth century. The collection consists of photographs, trade cards and other ephemera related to the Singer Company. Most of the photographs feature Singer sewing machines and many of these are identified by date and model number.

This series consists of the historical materials relating to the various company histories that Marshall compiled throughout his career. Subseries A contains histories, ephemera, and photographs relating to the various companies. This group includes materials on all of the small, forgotten companies that were merged with or absorbed by the larger companies whose names survived through the years.

Subseries B, C, and D contain published sources of information on the various appliances and subjects of interest to Johnson. Subseries E are files on museum exhibitions and other museums Johnson visited and, in some cases, worked with. Subseries F contain the information Johnson compiled on various collectors and clubs for the appliances of interest. Subseries G are files and binders of photographs of the appliances and other items that Johnson had collected while researching particular products.

Subseries H are 65 ink on drafting linen production drawings (18"X24") for Wear-Ever's regular line of aluminum cookware products. These include drawings for coffee pots and perculators, tea kettles, pitchers, ricers, and several kinds of pans.

Subseries I are 203 ink on drafting linen production drawings for Wear-Ever's Kensington Ware line of aluminum giftware. While many of them were designed by Lurelle Guild, the drawings only note who drew them.

Subseries J are the actual small electric and hand-operated appliances, tools, and razors that Johnson collected to study while designing his products.

The Sunoco Oil Company is a leading provider of oil for the United States. The company was founded in the 1800s in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is currently based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This collection features an event program cut in the shape of the diamond and arrow Sunoco logo. The program contains a menu for the banquet, a list of special guests, caricatures of some of the bowlers, as well as the results of the company's employee bowling league's 1931-1932 season.

William F. Endress, Inc. was a coal and ice supplier at 66 Foote Ave. in Jamestown, New York. The company was founded by Colonel William Fries Endress (1855-1935). In 1897, Endress purchased three existing brickyards owned by M.J. Mecusker & Sons, Jamestown Shale Paving Company, and C.A. Morley, Jr., which he then consolidated into a wholesale and retail establishment selling brick, wood, cement, and tile, but which specialized in the sale of anthracite, bituminous, and lignite coal. In 1902, Endress expanded into the ice and cold storage business, opening the first freezer storage facility in the city.
