Cities Service Oil Company was an oil and natural gas company formed in 1959 after a Federal Court mandated that Cities Services Company divest its holdings as a result of the Public Utility Holding Company Act of 1935. A souvenir album from the first annual Dealerama, a trade show held by Cities Service Oil Company to encourage service stations to increase their advertising. The trade show was a two day event in January of 1959 that took place at the Hotel Statler-Hilton in New York. The materials in the album are primarily photographs of exhibitions or booths that demonstrate a varity of products. There are a small set of materials that were laid into the album.

Isaac Elder Blake (1844-1906) founded the Continental Oil and Transportation Company in 1875 in Utah as a distributor of oil, kerosene, and other products. In 1929, the company merged with the Marland Oil Company, continuing to operate using the name Continental Oil Company. This volume contains extracts of minutes and auditor's reports concerning a revision of the company's finances during the Great Depression and an analysis of the company's financial position and prospects.

The correspondence files of Series I cover such subjects as ordnance contracts with Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Italy, Russia and Turkey in the pre-World War I years (circa 1906-1913), general business correspondence and memoranda, sales letters, promotion notices, proposals and inquiries, etc. Correspondence regarding Bethlehem Steel's patent infringement suits with Midland Steel and Niles-Bement-Pond Company (1905-1909) are included. Also covered is the construction of an oil refinery in Argentina and the ore mines in Cuba, Puerto Rico, New York and New Jersey.

These topics generated large amounts of correspondence with a narrow focus. This Johnston filed by subject. In addition, Johnston corresponded with a large number of individuals and companies about a wide range of topics. These letters he filed by correspondent. Some correspondents rated their own individual file, while others, with whom Johnston corresponded infrequently, were grouped together in alphabetical folders. Series I reflects this system. Johnston filed his letters both by subject and by correspondent. Subseries A contains letters filed by correspondent, while Subseries B contains letters filed by subject.

This collection represents materials collected by Cyrus J. Sharer for his research on the iron and steel industry and particularly the world iron ore trade. The main emphasis is on the iron ore trade of the Great Lakes. The period covered, mid-1960s to mid-1980s, was one of crisis and reorganization in the American steel industry and in the lake ore trade, and this is reflected in the records.

In the summer of 1981, a four-way bidding war errupted over the control of Conoco Inc., the world's ninth-largest oil company. These records consist of the various formal tender offers made for Conoco Inc.

Edward Graham Jefferson (1921-2006) was a research chemist and chief executive officer of E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company. Jefferson's papers consist of his "personal" business files, and do not include his official correspondence as CEO of the DuPont Company. The papers primarily reflect Jefferson's "Head of State" role at DuPont and his membership on the boards of numerous business, trade, and educational organizations. The papers have been arranged in three series: DuPont Company and personal activities, Outside board memberships, and Speeches.

In the twenty-first century, the E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company, better known as the DuPont Company focused on science with a diverse set of interests and products. It operates in more than ninty countries with corporate headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware, and employs more than 60,000 people worldwide, including 10,000 scientists and engineers. J. Howard Pew (1882-1971) was president of one of the largest wholesale distributor of motor petroleum companies, the Sun Oil Company (now Sunoco) from 1912 to 1947. He was a prominent philanthropist. In 1948, Pew and his siblings co-founded The Pew Charitable Trusts, a non-profit, non-governmental organization with the purpose of serving the public. The J. Howard Pew papers are primarily concerned with Pew's political activities and philanthropy. The collection is arranged into seven series: Alphabetical general correspondence; Subject files; Presbyterian Church; Christian Freedom Foundation; Glenmede Trust Co.; Pew Memorial Foundation; and Grove City College.

Robert E. Holeton (1911-1962) was an organic chemist at the DuPont Company from 1933 to 1962. He was the District Manager of the Petroleum Chemicals Division from 1954 until his death. From 1947 to 1953, Holeton perfomed "Chemical Magic" shows with a colleague in which they would demonstrate the unusual chemical reactions that can occur in the laboratory. These demonstrations were intentended to promote industrial safety. This small collection of Holeton's papers provides insight into his career as an industrial chemist, and then later as a sales represenative and district manager of the Petroleum Chemical Division. The collection strengths are the documentation related to industrial safety and Holeton's work performing the "Chemical Magic" shows and his time working at the Petroleum Chemical Division. There is a small but interesting set of material related to the Woodstown Civil Defense Council.

Sperry-Sun Drilling Services, Inc. provided drilling services and equipment to the petroleum industry, first in Texas and the Gulf Coast and then world wide. This collection of historical miscellany was collected for a 65th anniversary celebration in 1995 and other materials from the company's public relations office. The principal series is the Historical file. It contains material assembled for the 1995 company history booklet. Many of the documents dealing with the Sun Oil Company, members of the Pew family, Elmer Sperry and the Sperry Gyroscope Company are photocopies purchased from other Hagley accessions.

Sun Company is a petroleum processor and distributor incorporated by Joseph Newton Pew, Sr. (1848–1912), with his eldest son Arthur E. Pew (1875-1917), under the laws of New Jersey in 1901. In 1902, the company built a refinery in southeastern Pennsylvania on the Delaware River at Marcus Hook to process crude oil sent from Texas by ship. This collection contains plant and production records for the Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania, refinery of the Sun Oil Company. These records provide insight into the plants' finances, primarily through material and labor costs dating from 1903 to 1929.

The Sunoco Oil Company is a leading provider of oil for the United States. The company was founded in the 1800s in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is currently based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This collection features an event program cut in the shape of the diamond and arrow Sunoco logo. The program contains a menu for the banquet, a list of special guests, caricatures of some of the bowlers, as well as the results of the company's employee bowling league's 1931-1932 season.

Sunoco Inc. is a petroleum manufacturer with headquarters in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. This musical score is the theme song of the Sunoco Show. The Sunoco Show began in 1930 and aired weekly on NBC radio networks. The show offered popular "melodic" music to its listeners and included an orchestra that was directed by Harold Sanford (1879-1945). The Tel-Gas Corporation manufactured, sold, and leased remote-control self-service gasoline station pumps and other allied equipment. Herbert W. Timms (1929-2014) was an oil industry specialist and inventor. One of his inventions was gas pumps that could be activated by an attendant inside a convenience store and automatically reset. This item is an album containing a sales sample promotional catalog and photographs dating from 1965 to 1966.
