Scope and Contents

Series X. is divided into three subseries: Plastics budget, Teflon, and Zerone-Zerex anit-freeze.

The Plastics budget subseries spans 1948 to 1958 and consists of advertising budgets and related material on products from the Plastics Sales Section of the Polychemicals Department. Included are reports on plastics advertising in general and for individual products, including Alathon, Lucite, Pyralin and Plastacele, Teflon, Tynex, and Zytel.

The Teflon subseries spans 1956 to 1960 and contains information on Teflon advertising, including magazine ads; copies of the Journal of Teflon, a monthly publication of the Polychemicals Department; a marketing plan, etc.

The Zerone-Zerex anti-freeze subseries spans 1951 to 1956 and contains background information, ads, and promotional materials for Zerone and Zerex anti-freeze. Included are copies of "Selling Slants" newsletter, distributed to Zerone-Zerex salespeople, and "Zerone-Zerex Newsletter," a weekly publication probably circulated to members of the Zerone-Zerex Section. Also included are reports and surveys on the advertising and sales of Zerone and Zerex. The reports are organized alphabetically by author. A number of them are surveys done by mid-western newspapers and publications. The files also contain pamphlets and other promotional materials on Zerone-Zerex. Some of the promotional materials are signs, stickers, streamers, and cardboard cut-out figures for the Frank Leahy television show.
