Abel Farwell travel diaries (microfilm)
Abel Farwell (1813-1863) was a commission merchant from Boston, Massachusetts. This collection contains two of Abel Farwell's diaries. Farwell documents his personal trip, called a "pleasure tour," of 1833 and a business trip taken in 1851. The diaries are microfilm typescripts (151 pages) edited by Arthur H. Cole (1889-1974).
Century of Progress Exposition, Pennsylvania Railroad stickers
World Fairs or International Expositions are large-scale exhibitions highlighting technology, agriculture, and other innovations of national or cultural significance. The Chicago Century of Progress International Exposition was held along Lake Michigan and Northerly Island Park from May 27, 1933 to October 31, 1934. The collection consists of forty-five identical gummed stickers. The stickers feature an image of an approaching Pennsylvania Railroad locomotive.
Pennsylvania Railroad flyers and brochure
The Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) was chartered in 1846 to complete an all-railroad network across the state. Between 1855 and 1874, the PRR underwent rapid expansion and emerged as one of the two largest railroad systems in the region east of the Mississippi and north of the Ohio. In 1910, the PRR entered Manhattan through tunnels under the Hudson and East Rivers. This collection consists of flyers and a brochure for Pennsylvania Railroad special fares or trains.

The Pennsylvania Railroad Company was the largest railroad in the United States in terms of corporate assets and traffic from the last quarter of the nineteenth century until the decline of the northeast's and midwest's dominance of manufacturing. This is a collection of thirty-six blank, preprinted forms dating between 1960 and 1967, mostly related to the inspection and movement of freight cars.
Samuel Vauclain family travel photographs
Samuel Vauclain (1856-1940) was an engineer, inventor, and was president of Baldwin Locomotive Works from 1919 to 1929. This collection contains album pages with snapshot photographs recording a month long Canada-U.S. transcontinental railroad voyage taken in July and August 1922 by Mrs. and Mrs. Samuel Vauclain, their daughter, and granddaughter in their private car, "Manhattan."
