Biographical Note
Irmgard Altenbach, known professionally as Irma Alten, worked for Avon Products, Inc., from 1928 to 1968. Avon Products, Inc. is a manufacturer and direct selling company of beauty products.
Altenbach was born on December 21, 1911. In the 1930s, she was a Sales Department manager at the company's headquarters in New York City. The Sales Department office was transferred to Rye, New York, in 1960, and Altenbach worked there until her retirement in 1968. She died in New York on September 1, 2004.
Scope and Contents
This small collectio consists of company correspondence and written memories by Altenbach of her account of various events at Avon. One set in particular is about an Avon luncheon that was held in her honor in 1997. There is also a cartoon that Altenbach created about the sales team working late.
