The Purchasing Management Association of Central Pennsylvania was a regional chapter of the national trade organization the Institute for Supply Management from 1959 until 2016. The mission and vision of the regional chapter was to educate, develop, and advance the purchasing and supply management profession within Central Pennsylvania. This collection consists of thirty-two bound volumes of original documents from the Purchasing Management Association of Central Pennsylvania, primarily meeting minutes and correspondence between 1959 and 2004.

Historical Note
The Purchasing Management Association of Central Pennsylvania was a regional chapter of the national trade organization the Institute for Supply Management from 1959 until 2016. The mission and vision of the regional chapter was to educate, develop, and advance the purchasing and supply management profession within Central Pennsylvania.
The chapter primarily included Franklin, Adams, York, Lancaster, Cumberland, Perry, Dauphin, Lebanon, and Juniata counties. Members came from various industry sectors, including manufacturing, services, retail, government, healthcare, education, energy, and agribusiness. Membership numbered between 100 and 300 members.
The chapter was founded in 1959 as the Purchasing Agents Association of Central Pennsylvania. At this time, the national organization was called the National Association for Purchasing Management. When the national organization changed its name in 1968, the regional chapter followed suit.
Unofficially, the regional chapter changed its name in 1992 and began using the name National Association of Purchasing Management--Central Pennsylvania, continuing its use even after the national organization changed to the Institute for Supply Management in 2002.
The Central Pennsylvania chapter held regular dinner meetings, rotating between York, Lancaster, and Harrisburg as the locale.
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of thirty-two bound volumes of original documents from the Purchasing Management Association of Central Pennsylvania, primarily meeting minutes and correspondence between 1959 and 2004. The correspondence is with the national organization, other regional chapters, members, and other related associations about membership and events. The first volume contains the constitution and by-laws. Volumes also contain bulletins, newsletters, memorandums, member mailing lists, reports, and the occasional photograph from meetings and events.
