It was founded in 1909 as a subsidiary of the National Real Estate Trust Company, which provided loans and financing for the properties. This small collection consists of five blueprints of houses by E. Olney Sherman, dated 1910 for Delaware Construction Co.

Historical Note
The Delaware Construction Company was a building company, constructing residential houses in downtown Wilmington, Delaware. It was founded in 1909 as a subsidiary of the National Real Estate Trust Company, which provided loans and financing for the properties.
The company treasurer was Horace Holden Thayer Jr. (1878-1959). Thayer was a naval architect, mechanical engineer, and businessman. He worked for Delaware Construction Co. between 1909 and 1914.
In 1912, Thayer discovered that the general manager of Delaware Construction Co., Maurice S. Malloy, had been embezzling money. The same was discovered about the president of the National Real Estate Trust Company, W. P. Jorde. The courts apointed Thayer as receiver for Delaware Construction Co. and Peter T. Wright as receiver for the National Real Estate Trust Company. Between 1912 and 1914, Thayer worked to sell the properties and settle the company's debts.
Scope and Contents
This small collection consists of five blueprints by E. Olney Sherman, dated 1910. The materials state "Plans of attractive houses designed and built by Delaware Construction Co."
