Biographical / Historical
Pierre S. du Pont established the DuPont Museum in the DuPont Building in Wilmington, Delaware, during the 1930s. Unlike the company's exhibits in the show windows of the same building which featured current products and changed frequently, the museum was a historical collection of old advertisements, posters, powder cannisters, labels, guns, and eprouvettes that emphasized the company's roots in black powder manufacture. The Museum's contents became part of the collections of the Hagley Museum in 1954.
