Scope and Content
The Public Affairs press releases subseries is composed of press releases from the various divisions of RCA Corporation, companies in collaborative efforts with RCA, and the David Sarnoff Research Center. Some press releases include topical photographs or fact sheets. These papers document RCA’s regular organizational changes, such as promotions and appointments, the growth and contraction of the corporation in its expansion into international markets, mergers, and divestments, technological innovations from the RCA Laboratories, RCA's contracts with the military and NASA, the company’s focus on environmental technologies in the 1970s, and the growing diversity of the workplace. Of special interest is the expansive campaign promoting RCA's SelectaVision VideoDisc program and products from 1978 to 1984.
