Biographical Note
Jerome Kurshan (1919-2014) was Manager of Administrative Services at RCA Laboratories. Kurshan was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1919. He graduated from Columbia College with a degree in mathematics and physics. He then received his PhD in physics from Cornell University in 1943 before becoming a member of RCA Laboratories’ technical staff. In 1955 Kurshan became Manager of Recruiting and Training before taking the position of Manager of the newly established Research Services Laboratory. When the laboratory was dissolved in 1966, Kurshan returned to an administrative role as Manager of Marketing, a position he held until 1973 when he became the Manager of Administrative Services (later Administrative Projects). Kurshan retired in 1987 after forty-four years of working for RCA. Kurshan has sixteen U.S. patents in his name and received a Citation for World War II Wartime Contributions by the Office of Scientific Research and Development. He died in 2014.

The Jerome Kurshan papers are composed mostly of correspondence and ephemera from the David Sarnoff Research Center.
Ninety-nine of Kurshan's lab notebooks (1943-1954) can be found in Record group 26.

Gift of Jerome Kurshan to the David Sarnoff Library in 2003. Additional materials were donated to the Hagley Museum and Library by his daughter Rachel Kurshan in 2015.
