Biographical Note
Roland A. Lynn earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland in 1927. In 1931, he transferred from General Electric to the Engineering Department of the National Broadcasting Company. At RCA Laboratories, he contributed to the development of the Mark II synthesizer (also known as the Victor synthesizer) with Herbert Belar and Harry F. Olson. Lynn’s work focused on instrumentation and recording technologies.
Scope and Content
The Roland A. Lynn papers are composed of schematics and electronic instrumental scores related to Lynn’s contributions in developing the Mark II musical synthesizer at RCA Laboratories from 1955 to 1959.
Sixteen of Lynn's lab notebooks (1951-1958) can be found in Record group 26.
