Scope and Content
This subseries contains rolled drawings of a large number of interior design projects worked on by William Pahlmann and his William Pahlmann Associates. These drawings, originally stored in drawing tubes, have been re-housed in Mylar storage bags. A large majority of the drawings in this subseries were created by William Pahlmann Associates for its individual clients, including but not limited to private homes, corporate offices, hotels, restaurants, department stores, and universities. This subseries also contains a significant number of plans created by Pahlmann and his firm for non-client interior design projects, including exhibits, promotions, and magazine features. The Rolled Design Drawings Subseries also holds a few plans of Pahlmann's private residences and William Pahlmann Associates' offices. A handful of drawings regarding furniture and furnishings designed by Pahlmann are found in this subseries as well.
The Rolled Design Drawings Subseries is arranged as it came to the Winterthur Museum with some minor modifications. The plans are arranged by topic and the topics are arranged as alphabetically as possible. The titles found on the original drawing tubes were copied over when the series was being re-housed; the only changes were to add the date ranges and some clarifications [in square brackets].
