Scope and Content
These records are concerned with issues in U.S. and international antitrust legislation and enforcement, beginning with the renewal of vigorous antitrust campaigns during the Truman Administration. This series includes: publications, memoranda and press clippings concerning the reemergence of cartels in post-war international trade, extension of U.S. antitrust laws to U.S. companies' overseas operations, and other general antitrust issues and pending legislation; responses by the NFTC to proposed antitrust legislation, including the Rodino and Hart-Scott bills, the Webb-Pomerane Act, the Robinson-Patman Act, and others; copies of findings and judgments in various Sherman Act cases; publications and statements on the development and application of European Community antitrust laws to U.S. companies; NFTC correspondence, predominantly 1955-1957 with members of Congress and federal officials concerning proposed amendments to antitrust legislation, enforcement, and new regulations, requests for comments and testimony, cover letters for reports and memoranda sent to officials and congressional staff; publications and releases by the NFTC, U.S. governments departments, and other organizations and corporations on antitrust issues.
