Middle Eastern Council of Beta Sigma Phi (Mid-East BSP), 1935-1978
Part of collection: Elva M. Chandler papers (2057)
Dates
- Creation: 1935-1978
Scope and Content
This subseries reflects the activity of Beta Sigman Phi (BSP) Chapters in Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland. There is a partial (the first page is lost) history of the Middle Eastern Area Council and its activities dating from 1939. Most of this material is related to the biannual conventions held in the spring and fall. For many of the conventions, there are hand-decorated programs detailing the menus and order of business. In 1951, Wilmington hosted the Middle Eastern Area Convention, and because Chandler was president of the Wilmington City Council that year, there is a large number of correspondence relating to reservations and activities.
