Biographical Note
Tom McAndrews (b. 1936-) was the former Worldwide Director of the Flooring Systems Division, in the Textile Fibers Department. McAndrews was responsible not only for the introduction of DuPont Certified STAINMASTER carpet to market, but also for the advertising that created an overnight consumer brand that is still in use thirty years after it was launched.
Scope and Content
Five separate interviews were conducted.
McAndrews discusses his career with an emphasis on the events leading up to the development of STAINMASTER carpet and the marketing campaign that established this brand in American business history.
