Biographical Note
Henry William "Bill" Bartholomay (1923-2018) joined DuPont as a chemist in the process section at Waynesboro in 1950 after graduating from Georgia Tech with an advanced degree in chemistry in 1950. His first job involved acetate in the spinners. Bartholomay later transferred to Camden as a process chemist developing Orlon. He then moved to Martinsville to work on Nylon, eventually becoming assistant plant manager, and finally plant manager at Waynesboro. His son still works for DuPont.
Bartholomay served in the Army Air Corps in World War II.
Scope and Contents note
In addition to addressing general work history, Bartholomay's interview details experiences with women in the workplace and takes a critical look at the vision of the DuPont Company and changes in management style.
