Scope and Content
This subseries documents Mazda vehicles in North America, which were built by Toyo Kogo Company, Limited of Hiroshima, Japan (1960-1984) and Mazda Motor Corporation of Hiroshima, Japan (1984-Present).
Mazda started selling cars in Canada in 1968 and in the United States in 1970. In 1971, the firm established the subsidiary Mazda North America, Incorporated, which was located in Compton, California (1971-1987) and Irvine, California (1988-Present). Mazda North America, Incorporated also manufactures vehicles in the United States, which it started doing at an assembly plant in Flat Rock, Michigan in 1987.
