Scope and Content
This subseries documents LaSalle, which was built by the Cadillac Division of General Motors Corporation, which is based in Detroit, Michigan. Introduced in 1927, LaSalle was a companion make to Cadillac. Designed by Harley Earl, the LaSalle line was intended to fill the price gap between Buick and Cadillac in General Motors' product hierarchy. A trend-setting car at the time, but not successful enough to survive in the long-term, General Motors discontinued the LaSalle nameplate in 1941. See also Cadillac and General Motors.
