Scope and Content
This subseries documents Ford of France. Ford Motor Company first started operating in France in 1916. Its vehicles were built by the following French subsidiaries: Automobiles Ford of Bordeau and Asnières, France (1916-1925); Société Anonyme Française Matford of Strasbourg, France (1934-1940); and Ford S.A.F. of Poissy, France (1939-1954). Ford of France ceased production of cars in 1954 and sold its vehicle assembly facilities to Simca that same year, but remains in existence as a subsidiary of Ford of Europe GmbH.
