Scope and Content
This subseries documents Ferrari, which was built by Auto Avio Construzione of Maranello, Italy (1940-1946) and Ferrari S.p.A. of Maranello, Italy (1947-Present). Ferrari is a world renowned constructor of exotic sports cars and racing cars. Founded by Enzo Ferrari as a racing team in 1929, the firm initially prepared and raced Alfa Romeo cars with great success. In 1940, Ferrari constructed its first car, the Tipo 815, which debuted in the 1940 Mille Migilia road race. The firm's first road-going car, the Ferrari 125 S, was built in 1947. Fiat S.p.A. purchased a 50% stake in Ferrari S.p.A. in 1969, which it retains to the present day. See also Fiat.
