Scope and Content
This subseries documents Duryea, which was built by Duryea Motor Wagon Company of Springfield, Massachusetts (1893-1898), Duryea Manufacturing Company of Peoria, Illinois (1898-circa 1899), Duryea Power Company of Reading, Pennsylvania (1899-1907), Duryea Motor Company of Reading, Pennsylvania (1908-1913), and Duryea Automobile Company of Reading, Pennsylvania and Saginaw, Michigan (1913-1914). Formats include general publications and trade catalogs for various models.
The general publications include the publications Who Designed and Built Those Early Duryea Cars? (1944), The 1895 Duryea Automobile (1964), and an unidentified leather sample. The trade catalogs for various models include a reprint of an 1895 Duryea trade catalog, and a mailed packet containing several catalogs for various Duryea cars and customer testimonials.
