Scope and Content
This subseries documents BSA (Birmingham Small Arms), which was built by Birmingham Small Arms Company Limited of Birmingham, England (1907-1924) and Coventry, England (1923-1926, 1933-1936); and BSA Cycles Limited of Birmingham, England.
Originally a manufacturer of small arms, bicycles, and motorcycles, BSA started building cars in 1907. As an automaker, the company was best known for being a manufacturer of light cars and three-wheeled cars. Over the course of its business life, BSA was also the parent company of Daimler (1910-1960) and Lanchester (1930-1960). BSA ceased production of cars under its own nameplate in 1940, but continued to build small arms and motorcycles. The company was purchased by Manganese Bronze Holdings in 1973. See also Daimler and Lanchester.
