Scope and Content
This subseries documents Austin-Healey, which was built by Donald Healey Motor Company Limited of Warwick, England (1952); Austin Motor Company Limited of Birmingham, England (1953-1970); and Austin-Morris Division of British Leyland Motor Corporation Limited, which was located in Abingdon, England (1970-1972).
Founded in 1952, Austin-Healey was a joint venture between Austin Motor Company and Donald Healey Motor Company. Over the course of its existence, it became a famous manufacturer of sports cars. Austin-Healey was owned by the following parent firms: BMC (1952-1968); British Motor Holdings (1968-1969); and British Leyland (1969-1972). Production of Austin-Healey cars ceased when the joint venture agreement between Donald Healey Motor Company and British Leyland ended in 1972.
