This series contains 71 items, including an assortment of brochures, letterheads, receipts, invoices, business licenses related to Main Street businesses. The businesses include beauty shops, markets and a taxidermist. They date from 1872 to 1950s. Box 146
Before the proliferation of shopping malls, the Main Street in any Downtown, U.S.A. was America’s urban marketplace, where people gathered to shop. “Main Street,” whether in a town or city, symbolizes small business and everyday hard-working citizens.
