Biographical note
Andrée Ruellan (1905-2006) was a painter and printmaker whose work, in a realist style with modernist overtones, depicts everyday scenes in the South and New York City. She exhibited and sold her early work through the Weyhe Gallery in New York, headed by Carl Zigrosser (1891-1975) and joined the American Artists Group soon after its founding.
