Scope and Contents
This series consists of publicity materials used to promote American Artists Group and its products. It is arranged into two subseries: Publicity campaigns and press releases and Publicity photographs.
The Publicity campaigns and press releases subseries is arranged chronologically and covers the years 1955 to 1976. It represents a full range of topics, with emphasis on new card releases each year. Materials intended specifically for newspapers, radio, and television are present, as well as materials related to publicity mailing campaigns.
The Publicity photographs subseries is arranged alphabetically and covers the years 1939 to 1955. It features department store display images from sixteen stores plus other displays, framed arrangements of cards, and production photographs. Product images include card lines, gift books, monographs, and calendars, including extensive coverage of the 1950s social stationery set Art in Correspondence. An extensive file of fifty-two artist portraits is also included, with artist names penciled on the backs of the photographs.
