Calendars, 1939-2020
Part of collection: American Artists Group records (2768)
Dates
- Creation: 1939-2020
Scope and Contents
This series consists of calendars published by American Artists Group, with artwork by member artists. Most were produced for the Connecticut Mutual Insurance Company; these feature one painting per month, along with artist biographies and sometimes luxury touches like color borders and tassel ties. The calendars, presumably given to insurance customers, advertised the company and promoted AAG. A few additional calendars are present, including a 1978 World Wildlife Fund calendar and a series of pop-up advent calendars produced by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City using vintage artwork from AAG from 2011 to 2020. The series is arranged chronologically.
