Scope and Contents
The Labor relations series is arranged into three subseries: Labor contracts; Employee grievances; and Arbitration cases.
The Labor contract subseries contains labor agreements between labor unions and NVF Company plants in Broadview, Holyoke, Los Angeles, Toronto, Wilmington, and Yorklyn. The labor unions involved in these labor agreements include The International Union and Allied Industrial Workers of America; The United Papermakers and Paperworkers; Association Western Pulp and Paperworkers; and The United Electrical, Radio, and Machine Workers of America. The subseries is arranged alphabetically based on NVF plant location and dates from 1966 to 1990.
The Employee grievances subseries consists of employee grievance forms that are arranged alphabetically based on grievance subjects and chronologically ordered within each folder. Grievance subjects include absenteeism, insubordination, overtime, promotions, and unfair treatment by foremen. The materials date from 1951 to 2000. The employee grievances subseries is subjected to a 50-year time seal from the date of creation.
The Arbitration cases subseries is alphabetically arranged based on grievance subject, and each folder consists of information from one case. Each arbitration case often includes employee grievance forms, information about arbitrators, and court transcripts and notes. The materials date from 1963 to 1983. The arbitration cases subseries is subjected to a 50-year time seal from the date of creation.
