Historical Note
The Cellophane Division of the Rayon Department became the Film Department in 1950 to manufacture and sell all DuPont film materials except photo products.
Scope and Contents
This series includes records concerning the suit of USA vs. E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. (Civil Action No. 1216 in the US District Court for the District of Delaware, 1949; originally instituted in 1947 as Civil Action No. 5017-47 in the District Court of the District of Columbia, later transferred to Delaware). This civil suit charged the DuPont Co. with a monopoly in the manufacture and marketing of cellophane. (See also Advertising, Information Services, Legal Dept [Trademarks], and Public Relations).
