Biographical Note
Jan Combopiano was senior vice president and chief knowledge officer of Catalyst from 2015 to 2017. She began as senior librarian in 2000 and later led the Information Center. Her purview included the Catalyst archives. Combopiano holds a bachelor’s degree in American history and a master’s degree in women’s history from the State University of New York at Binghamton. She also holds a Master of Library Science degree from the State University of New York at Albany. Combopiano had an active role in strategic planning, the Catalyst website, research, Catalyst census projects, and events such as the Catalyst Awards Dinner and Conference.

Jan Combopiano’s papers consist of files related to her administration of the Information Center, her work as part of the Catalyst Research Department, and her participation on Catalyst committees. The subseries includes her personal notebooks. Also included is Combopiano’s incoming email correspondence between 2000 and 2017. The messages document her work in the Information Center related to answering reference questions, budgeting, newsletters, cataloging, Information Center training, and communicating with Iron Mountain, a records management storage provider.
