Scope and Contents

This subseries consists of research project materials related to Women on Corporate Boards. Also referred to internally as the Women Directors project, this study sought to increase business leaders’ awareness of women qualified for board service, explore ways in which female directors can help address bottom-line needs of companies, and help women seeking directorships learn how to best position themselves for these opportunities. It resulted in the report, “Women on Corporate Boards: The Challenge of Change” (1993). Materials include surveys and interviews with women directors and CEOs from Fortune 500 and Service 500 companies, survey data, and proxy research. A follow-up project featured a larger survey of CEOs and resulted in the report, “The CEO View: Women on Corporate Boards” (1995). Materials from this project include administrative files, anonymous survey responses, and interview transcripts.
