Scope and Contents
This subseries consists of materials related to the Career and Family Center, which was established with the mission to “help reconcile the needs of the family and the workplace.” Funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the center served as a clearinghouse for information on two-career families. It also engaged in some of Catalyst’s early research work, producing the report, “Corporations and Two-Career Families: Directions for the Future,” (1981), based on two national surveys: one focused on Fortune 1300 companies and one focused on couples where the wife was pursuing a business career (wives and husbands answered separate but identical questionnaires). This subseries consists of Career and Family center publications, including its newsletter and a bibliography on two-career families, as well as materials related to survey work, including administrative files, surveys, blank questionnaires, focus group summaries, and press kit.
