Scope and Contents
The DuPont Company's purchasing and receiving records document powder on hand, as well as the importation of saltpeter and nitrate of soda. Willow and poplar books document the purchase of local wood and payments for peeling willows for charcoal production. Various accounts and passbooks document hardware and lumber purchases, acid hauling, and keg production. The series also includes supply order books and receipts for freight. Also included are bills of lading from the Pennsylvania Railroad Co.; the Philadelphia, Wilmington & Baltimore Railroad Co.; and Warner's Philadelphia & Wilmington Steam Propeller Line.
