Biographical Note
Henry Belin du Pont (1873-1902) was the son of Mary Belin (1839–1913) and Lammot du Pont (1831-1884). He spent his time after graduating from school on the banks of the Brandywine and, while there, took photographs of the Brandywine Valley. He lived at Louviers, across the creek from the powder yards, and often walked about them taking pictures, sometimes accompanied by his wife, Eleuthera Bradford du Pont (1873-1953). Henry developed tuberculosis at an early age, however, and had to leave Delaware for his health, dying in Arizona in 1902. Henry and Eleuthera had two sons: Henry Belin du Pont Jr. (1898-1970) and Edward Bradford du Pont (1899-1900).
