Scope and Contents

Memoranda and correspondence concerning construction of sections of proposed long-haul fiber optic route between Illinois and Texas, mostly using Union Pacific Railroad Company ROWs. Includes CPAR for project to install Longview-Little Rock, AS section of fiber route, with technical description, labor and equipment costs; route schematics; licensing and permit issues; notes on project management meetings, field engineering reports; correspondence concerning ROW and easement issues, including regional reports on ROW acquisition; Statement of Work for route survey and design, permitting and engineering services; route survey status reports; correspondence with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, with list of waterways to be crossed by the cable route; engineering studies for design and installation of river crossings for cable routes. 52 photographic prints of river crossings, including rail bridges, have been transferred to the Pictorial Collections Department. 98-13 Number 124.
