Scope and Contents

This series is comprised of records from a number of individuals, offices and functional groups responsible for aspects of MCI's financial operations. Records dealing with MCI's relations with institutional and individual investors are particularly well represented.

The series is arranged in five subseries: Subseries A. Records of Stanley Scheinman detail his efforts to secure financing for the expansion of the MCI network through the development of public offerings and leasing agreements with equipment suppliers, and his involvement in the regulatory activities of MCI. Records are organized alphabetically within two groups: subject file and supplemental file. Subseries B. Investor relations, includes prospectuses for stock and debenture offerings, correspondence with shareholders, and stock analyst's reports on MCI and the telecommunications industry. Subseries C. Corporate development and planning, includes a group of detailed financial reports on MCI services, a second group of business plans for 1982 and 1983, and a third group of records detailing the financial analysis of proposed business activities and strategies. A fourth group of this series presents the files of John Whiteside, V.P. for Corporate Development, and later Senior V.P. for Global Alliances. Subseries D. Records of Boyd Wanzer, includes correspondence on operational and financial management of MCI corporate real estate and facilities, particularly the construction and expansion of MCI's Richardson, TX engineering facilities and the difficult process of staff relocation. Subseries E. Leasing and miscellaneous records, includes a comprehensive group of correspondence and agreements related to the refinancing of computerized switch systems lease agreements, which demonstrate the complexity and scope of MCI's financing arrangements.
