Scope and Contents
Phoebe (George) Bradford (1794-1840) diaries, 1832-1839; typescripts made in 1919 by her grandson Judge Edward Green Bradford Jr. (1848-1928), in preparation for the publication [never issued]. There are multiples, about six each, for each page from 100-699, 1300-1599, 1800-2099, and in the 700's, 1200's, 1600's, 1700's, 2100's; there are seven sets each in sequence of pages 882-1010, 1638-1765, 2180-2242, 2243-2365, 2366-2479. The above typescripts end with the entry for 20 January 1839, which would be in diary volume 23. The original diaries (volumes 1, 4-24) were presented to the Historical Society of Delaware on May 15, 1947, by Sidney George Bradford for the descendants of Henry Banning Bradford and Judge E.G. Bradford Jr.; S.G. Bradford is the son of H.B. Bradford, the Judge's half-brother. Volume 2 is included in box 5, above.
