The records for the General administrative files and correspondence series were drawn primarily from the fiscal year correspondence files of Quaker executives. Subjects relate to the daily administration of the company and include insurance, personnel concerns, various legal matters, machinery purchases and utilities. This series also contains correspondence and related literature from organizations including the American Tariff League, the Chambers of Commerce of Philadelphia and Pennsylvania, National Association of Lace Manufacturers, National Association of Manufacturers, Pennsylvania Employer-Wage Earner Job Protection Association, Philadelphia Textile Institute Foundation, and the Research Institute of America. These materials and some others in this series provide information about the Taft-Hartley Act, and tariffs and trade regulation, particularly those relating to textiles and lace, and their effects on the Quaker Lace Company. Annual applications for the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval are also included. Materials in this series consist mainly of correspondence but also include newsletters, reports, trade catalogs, press releases, invoices, and other similar materials.
