Telephone company relations files, 1970-1980
Part of collection: MCI Communications Corporation records (2225)
Dates
- Creation: 1970-1980
Scope and Contents
A group of records detailing the implementation and monitoring of early interconnection arrangements between MCI and the local Bell companies. These arrangements allowed MCI to connect its customers to MCI terminals using local distribution facilities provided by Bell, and required the cooperative development of new standards and procedures for installation, monitoring and trouble reporting. The declining relationship between the two corporations at the ground level is documented in this group, as MCI's complaints over delays in the provision of service and performance standards began to be seen as evidence that AT&T was orchestrating a deliberate campaign against MCI at a national level.
