The International Labor Organization (ILO) is a United Nations (UN) agency whose mandate is to advance social and economic justice through setting international labor standards. Founded in 1919 under the UN’s predecessor, the League of Nations, it is the oldest specialized agency under the UN. As part of its work, ILO helps develop and promote standards that protect and improve working conditions and standards of living across the world.
