This series includes trade catalogs, price lists, photographs, photographic reproductions, brochures, sample cards, and catalog binders for interior design supplies received by William Pahlmann Associates between 1950 and 1976. A majority of the companies represented by these materials were based in New York City metropolitan area, but William Pahlmann Associates also received catalogs and other promotional materials from manufacturers, craftsman, and distributors throughout the United States and overseas. It appears that most of these materials were requested by William Pahlmann Associates, but it also appears that some information was sent to the firm without solicitation. The catalogs and associated price lists highlight the difference between the wholesale and retail market for furnishings. Interior design firms like William Pahlmann Associates benefited from bulk rates on furnishings that the average consumer could not obtain.
