- From the Collection: Creation: 1942-1989
Scope and Contents
Subseries E contains site reports which document the process of site selection. Included are records generated by the Army Corps of Engineers during the 1950 to 1952 investigations of the Savannah River site. These materials analyzed soil foundations, water flow, erosion problems, and road construction. The bulk of the records in this subseries were generated by the Army Corps of Engineers in the course of conducting these investigations under the auspices of DuPont for the AEC. Most of the material seems to be from the files of F.R. Klauck of the Engineering Research Laboratory, DuPont Experimental Station, and to have been intended for a "soil file." This file was to contain records of the investigations and to serve as both a record of events and a source of information in the course of future development.
