Scope and Content
A majority of this volume's items concern Pahlmann's work for Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. The materials on that particular job include a presentation folder with Pahlmann's project estimates, floor plans, and design concept; correspondence about the job; editorials in student and Texas newspapers; "A Matter of Taste" article on the design concept; and an information packet from a tour of the redecorated campus facilities. The Texas A&M items cover the years 1971-1975, from the proposal to the completion of the project.
Other Pahlmann jobs featured in Volume 24 are the San Antonio debutante party for Jacqueline Rather Beretta, the J.W. Griffith house in Santa Fe, New Mexico (1972), and Josef's restaurant in San Antonio, TX (1972). Articles on Pahlmann, his San Antonio, Texas and Jalisco, Guadalajara, Mexico homes (the Mexican one was named "Sagitario"), and his design philosophies are found throughout Volume 24.
Pahlmann continued his work for the benefit of museums and charities, helping the Cooper-Hewitt Museum of Design in New York City, the San Antonio Museum Association, and various San Antonio relief groups. Items on this work include articles, programs, event invitations, and exhibit catalogues.
Further items found in Volume 24 include a Christmas card from former United States President Lyndon Johnson (1972), a memorial article to Dorothy Liebes (1972), articles on Pahlmann's talk in Vancouver, British Columbia, Columbia (1975), articles and programs from his work with Lord & Taylor's "American Designers: Present and Future" exhibit to showcase Parsons School of Design students and alumni (1972), Pahlmann's 1972-1975 Christmas cards, an endorsement for The Dean Company's cherry veneers (1973), and various articles mentioning Pahlmann.
