Bulletins

Dates
- From the Collection: Creation: 1914-1985
Scope and Content
NFTC established its first monthly bulletin under the title of National Foreign Trade in April 1915. This serial is not represented in the archive. NFTC began issuing a new series of regular, sequentially-numbered Bulletins to its members in 1938. They are simple typed notices of any current events that might impact America's foreign trade or economic relations with foreign governments. During the war years, the Bulletins include government notices against trading with the enemy and blacklists identifying Axis front organizations, particularly in Latin America. Occasionally, copies of publications, including numbers of the NFTC's own Memoranda series and publications of the National Foreign Trade Conventions, were mailed with the Bulletins. The information in the Bulletins was intended for members only and was not to be published or redistributed. The information in the Bulletins is usually limited to straightforward news items or analyses of statistics released by the U.S. or foreign governments without editorial comment or endorsement. Taken as a whole, the Bulletins give a good picture of which events and issues the NFTC considered important over a sixty year period. Certain items of note among the bulletins have been cataloged individually in Hagley's online catalog.
