Historical Note
The company was incorporated in Delaware on January 21, 1938, under the name Turkeytown, Inc., as a subsidiary of the Stockford Farms, Inc. It managed real estate near Turkey Town in Cecil County, Maryland. Its name was changed to Turkey Town, Inc., by an Amendment to the Certificate of Incorporation of March 28, 1938. The company bought from Stockford Farms, Inc., the following premises: Bradley, Elizabeth Janney, Gregg, Buchanan (parcels 1 and 3), Crookham, Kimble, Seward, and T. Jackson Willis farms and Null, McLaughlim, Martenis, and Albert Willis tracts. Beginning in 1939, the company leased some of its pasture lands to Center Square, Inc.
Foxcatcher Hounds, Inc., performed management services for Turkey Town, Inc., from April 1939 until May 1940 when the parent company resumed management duties.
In January 1945, Turkey Town, Inc. agreed to transfer some of its land to Center Square, Inc., for its contemplated Cattle Feeding Plant Project, and in March 1946, it gave another tract of its land for the project. At the same time, a tract of land was transferred to Little Elk, Inc., in order to consolidate the property of the latter. After these transfers, steps towards the dissolution of the Turkey Town, Inc., were undertaken, and the company was dissolved on December 30, 1946.
William du Pont, Jr. was company vice president from 1938 to December 17, 1943, and president until its dissolution.
