Part of collection: William du Pont family papers (2317)
Dates
- Creation: 1930-1941
Scope and Content
The Turkey Purchasing Project undertaken by William du Pont, Jr. was "...designed as a good will measure toward the people over whom our pack of fox hounds hunts..." (Letter to Rev. J.W. Prettyman, November 28, 1940 - Correspondence and Subject File, folder "P".) The company continued the policy started by William du Pont, Jr. before its organization, to purchase turkeys from farmers over whom the pack of hounds hunted and distribute them among companies and individuals which were affiliated with the du Ponts, selling the surplus at a loss. Folders include reports on turkey purchases, summary of operations, distribution lists, and receipts on purchased and sold turkeys.
